L.E.D. Light Therapy

L.E.D. Light Therapy is a skin treatment that utilizes specific wavelengths of red, blue, and infrared energy produced by Light Emitting Diodes (L.E.D.). L.E.D. light therapy stimulates fibroblast production leading to the formation of new collagen, gently lifting and firming the skin. Because there is little or no heat generated from L.E.D., there is no risk of tissue damage. It is completely safe, non-invasive and painless.

L.E.D. Technology

L.E.D. technology was originally developed to enhance the growth of plant tissue in space by NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center and Quantum Devices Inc. L.E.D.'s have similar physiological effect on human cells as they do on plant cells. It is a natural photo-biochemical reaction that is similar to photosynthesis in plants, which triggers the body to convert light energy into cell energy.

NASA's sudies have shown that cells which have been exposed to particular wavelengths of L.E.D.'s have a 150% enhancement to their cellular metabolism, thereby accelerating the repair and replenishment of damaged cells. The studies and testing performed by NASA suggest that the optimal L.E.D. wavelengths for tissue and wound regeneration are 680, 730, and 880nm. These are also the wavelengths utilized by the Nue Wave L.E.D. equipment for skin rejuvenation, anti-aging, and photo-damaged skin.

Light Wavelengths

  • +720nm Invisible or Near Infrared Light:absorbed by skin and used as energy to stimulate fibroblast cell activity, prompting an increase in collagen and elastin.
  • 660nm Visible Red Light: penetrates into the dermis and is beneficial in treating problems close to the surface (wounds, cuts, and scars). Activates skin cells and promotes blood circulation.
  • 410-420nm Blue Light: penetrates only to the sebaceous gland; reduces acne without irritation; antibacterial.
